What Horse Racing is on Boxing Day?
There is plenty of racing action taking place, but there is no doubting the race of the day is a vintage renewal of the King George VI Chase.
Racecourses around the country will see hoards of racing fans enter the tracks. Kempton, Wetherby, Leopardstown, Sedgefied, Down Royal, Huntingdon, Market Rasen, Fontwell, Wincanton, Limerick and Wolverhampton.
Wetherby
Harry Skelton will be the jockey that many are watching. Skelton has enjoyed 125 winners since April, just six wins shy of his record for the whole of last season.
He heads to Wetherby with Captain Chaos in the feature race, the Rowland Meyrick, as well as Sounds Of Italy (12.30), No Getaway (1.00), Get On The Yager (1.35) and Miss Spent (2.45). All rides seem to have excellent chances at the West Yorkshire track.
Kempton Park
The race everyone will be watching is of course the King George VI Chase. This years race looks set to be an epic one with former winners Might Bite and Thistlecrack racing. Classy performers Bristol De Mai, Native River, Politologue and Waiting Patiently will also be featured in the race. Might Bite and Politologue both look good choices.
Leopardstown.
The Racing Post Novice Chase (2.20) only looks to have one winner. The leading Irish contender is the Gordon Elliott-trained Mengli Khan. The five-year-old was an impressive winner on his sole chasing start, winning by ten lengths, and is a warm favourite to land this Grade 1 contest. Other prospect in the two-mile novice chasing division are Kalashnikov and Lalor.
