Best Football Betting Apps: Premier League, Champions League, World Cup and More

Football is the sport most of us bet on, and these days almost all of it happens on a phone. Whether it’s a Saturday acca on the Premier League, a bet builder on a Champions League night or a punt on the next World Cup, the right app makes it quicker and easier. Here are the apps I’d look at for football, plus a run-through of the leagues and competitions you can bet on.

Football competitions you can bet on

All the big UK apps price far more football than most of us will ever bet on. These are the competitions most punters look for.

Premier League

The big one. Twenty clubs, 380 matches from August to May, and the deepest markets of any league: match result, both teams to score, goals, goalscorers, cards, corners, shots and more, all of which can go into a bet builder. You can also bet on the outright winner, top four, relegation and top scorer before and during the season.

Championship, League One and League Two

The EFL’s three divisions have 24 clubs each and 46 league games per club, so there’s football almost every Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Championship is famous for being hard to predict, and promotion and relegation markets are popular, along with the end-of-season play-offs. Lower-league matches are a staple of the Saturday acca.

National League (the old Conference)

The fifth tier, still called the Conference by plenty of fans, is covered by the big apps too. Expect match result, goals and both teams to score on most games, plus outright and promotion markets. Markets can be thinner than in the EFL, so bet builder options vary match by match.

FA Cup and EFL Cup

The FA Cup is the oldest cup competition in the world, with the final at Wembley in May. The early rounds bring non-league clubs up against Football League sides, which is where upset bets come in. The EFL Cup (League Cup) final is usually played at Wembley in late winter or early spring. You can bet on each tie, including to qualify, and on the outright winner.

Scottish football

The Scottish Premiership has 12 clubs and splits into top and bottom halves late in the season. Old Firm matches between Celtic and Rangers are among the most bet-on games in the UK. The Championship, League One, League Two and the Scottish Cup are covered too.

Champions League, Europa League and Conference League

UEFA’s three club competitions all start with a 36-team league phase before the knockout rounds. Champions League nights are a favourite for bet builders, and English and Scottish clubs feature across all three. Outright markets on the winner run all season, and the Europa League and Conference League often give a better-priced shot at a British winner.

International football

The World Cup and the European Championship are the biggest betting events in football. The 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico was the first with 48 teams. Next up, Euro 2028 is being hosted in the UK and Ireland, and the 2030 World Cup will be played mainly in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. In between there are qualifiers, the Nations League and friendlies. Expect outright markets (winner, top scorer, group winners) to open well before each tournament.

Women’s football

Women’s football has grown fast as a betting market. You’ll find the Women’s Super League, the Women’s Champions League and international tournaments, including the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Markets are usually simpler than for men’s games, but match result, goals and goalscorer bets are widely available.

European leagues and beyond

La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are all priced in depth, with bet builders on the bigger games. Most apps also cover the Eredivisie, the Portuguese and Turkish leagues, MLS and many more, which is handy for midweek and summer betting.

Popular football bets

  • Match result (1X2): home win, draw or away win.
  • Both teams to score: yes or no, a favourite for accas.
  • Over/under goals: usually 2.5 goals, but most lines are available.
  • Goalscorers: first, last or anytime scorer.
  • Correct score and half-time/full-time: bigger odds, harder to land.
  • Handicaps: give the favourite a goal start against them for better odds.
  • Cards and corners: popular legs in bet builders.
  • Outrights: league winner, relegation, top scorer and tournament winner.

What to look for in a football betting app

  • A good bet builder: combine result, goals, scorers, cards and corners from one match.
  • Cash out, ideally partial: useful when an acca is nearly there. See our cash out guide.
  • Fast in-play markets: odds that update quickly during the match.
  • Acca features: boosts or acca free bets, but always read the terms.
  • Stats in the app: form, line-ups and match stats help you bet on what you know.

Can you watch football in the apps?

Not much UK football. Because of TV rights, Premier League and EFL matches are generally not streamed in betting apps. Where apps do stream, it’s mostly horse racing, greyhounds and some overseas football and other sports, usually only if you have a funded account or a bet on the event. Live match trackers and in-play stats are available on most games instead.

My pick for football

For bet builder fans, William Hill and Betfair both have welcome free bets aimed at bet builders, and Betfair’s also work on accas and multiples. Paddy Power is great if you like Multi Match bet builders across several games. If you want the best prices on the big matches, it’s worth having the Betfair Exchange as well. Having two apps also means you can compare odds before you bet.

Tips for betting on football

  1. Stick to leagues and teams you actually follow.
  2. Check team news before kick-off: one missing striker can change a goalscorer bet.
  3. Keep accas short. Four or five legs land far more often than ten.
  4. Shop around. The same bet can have quite different odds on two apps.
  5. Set a budget for the weekend and stick to it, win or lose.
