Spreadex App Review: Features, Offer and How to Download

Spreadex is a St Albans-based firm that does something few UK betting apps do: one app gives you both normal fixed-odds betting and sports spread betting, where what you win or lose depends on how right or wrong you are. Its fixed-odds betting is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (account 8835) and its spread betting is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Spread betting can lose you more than your stake, so read how it works before you try it.

Pros and cons

What I like

  • Fixed-odds betting and sports spread betting in the same app
  • Three kinds of cash out: one-click, partial (fixed odds) and auto (spread bets)
  • Free streaming of all UK and Irish racing with a funded account – no bet needed
  • Strong store ratings: 4.7 on the App Store and 4.6 on Google Play
  • Card withdrawals within 2 hours of approval, Spreadex says

What could be better

  • Spread betting can lose you more than your stake – it isn’t for beginners
  • Half the £60 welcome offer is spread bets, which need a separate approved spread account
  • No PayPal, Skrill or other e-wallets
  • Far fewer store reviews than the big names (100K+ Google Play downloads)
  • Some Google Play reviewers mention slow support and football markets suspended before kick-off

Using the app

The Spreadex app covers fixed-odds betting on football, horse racing, cricket, rugby, tennis, NFL, boxing, F1 and more, both pre-match and in-play. What sets it apart is sports spread betting: instead of backing a result at fixed odds, you buy or sell a line – total goals in a match, say – and win or lose your stake multiplied by how far the result finishes from that line. Spreadex’s help pages explain that your win or loss is a multiple of your stake rather than a fixed amount, and that you can close a spread bet in-play to take a profit or cut a loss.

On football, Spreadex’s Bet Builder lets you combine outcomes from one match as either a fixed-odds bet or a spread bet. The app listings also mention Acca Boosts of 5% to 100% on football accas of three or more legs, regular price boosts and Perfect 7, a free score-prediction game for UK customers. Spreadex’s offers page adds a 2-Up early payout market for football, and for racing First Past The Post, 2nd to a Rag insurance (money back as a free bet if your horse finishes second to a 33/1 or bigger winner) and Lucky Double Odds on Lucky 15s, 31s and 63s.

Cash out comes in three forms. One-click cash out works on both spread bets and fixed odds; partial cash out lets you close part of a fixed-odds single or multiple and leave the rest running; and auto cash out, for sports spread bets only, closes your bet automatically when your in-play profit reaches a level you set. Our cash out explained guide covers how cash out works in general.

The app holds 4.7 on the UK App Store from about 1,400 ratings and 4.6 on Google Play from 500+ reviews, with 100K+ downloads. Some reviewers praise the range of spread and fixed-odds markets and the explanations for newer users; others report slow customer support, having to confirm their location at each log-in and football markets suspended before kick-off. Store reviews may not reflect the current version.

New customers can bet £10 and get £60 in free bets. Place a £10+ fixed-odds single, or an each-way bet with £10+ on the win part, at odds of 1/2 or bigger within 28 days of opening your account – pre-match or in-play, but don’t cash it out. Once it settles, win or lose, you get 3 × £10 fixed-odds free bets. The other £30 – 3 × £5 Total Goals football spread bets and 3 × £5 Winning Favourites racing spread bets, plus a bonus £1 Race Index spread bet – only comes if you open a full spread betting account within 28 days and pass Spreadex’s checks, including an appropriateness assessment. Free bets are credited in stages after your qualifying bet settles, expire 28 days after they’re awarded, and the stake isn’t returned. No promo code is needed, and the offer can’t be combined with other Spreadex offers. Our guide to how sign-up offers work explains the usual terms, and you can compare current deals on our offers page.

Live streaming

Spreadex streams all UK and Irish horse racing, plus a wide range of overseas racing. You need to be logged in to a funded account, but Spreadex says you don’t have to bet on a race to watch it. The Google Play listing also mentions streams of selected tennis, NFL and football matches – check in the app for what’s on.

Deposits and withdrawals

Spreadex takes UK debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Pay by Bank, bank transfer, direct debit and cheque. The minimum deposit is £5, and it doesn’t accept e-wallets such as PayPal, Skrill or NETELLER, or payments from anyone else’s account. Withdrawals go back to the card you deposited with (or by bank transfer or cheque), with a £5 minimum. Spreadex says card withdrawals usually arrive within 2 hours of approval, though some card issuers take 2–5 days, and bank transfers within 2 working days; a same-day CHAPS transfer costs £25. See our deposits and withdrawals guide for more.

How to download the Spreadex app

  1. On iPhone, search for “Spreadex” in the App Store (Spreadex Sports Betting App, from Spreadex Ltd); on Android, search Google Play
  2. Download the app and open an account – you’ll go through identity and age checks
  3. Add a debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Pay by Bank (minimum £5)
  4. For the welcome offer, place a £10+ fixed-odds bet at 1/2 or bigger within 28 days
  5. Only apply for a full spread betting account if you understand that spread bets can lose more than your stake

William Hill has a far bigger app following and a simpler welcome offer if all you want is fixed-odds Bet Builders. Spreadex’s £60 looks larger, but only £30 of it is fixed-odds free bets – the rest needs a spread betting account. Spreadex is the one to pick if you want to try spread betting or like the idea of watching UK and Irish racing without having to bet on each race; William Hill suits anyone after a mainstream bookmaker app.

My verdict

Spreadex is the app to look at if you’re curious about sports spread betting, and its fixed-odds side holds its own too, with three kinds of cash out, a football Bet Builder, acca boosts and free streaming of UK and Irish racing. I’d only go near the spreads with money I could afford to lose and after reading exactly how they work, because unlike a normal bet your loss isn’t capped at your stake. For everyday fixed-odds betting it’s a well-rated app, and the £30 of fixed-odds free bets is a fair welcome offer on its own.
